Organisations are responsible for ensuring that each of their employees knows what is expected of them in their positions and how their work will be fairly and transparently managed, supported and assessed.

When there is role ambiguity it obviously affects those holding roles, but it also poses problems for those who oversee, guide and support the work and performance of others. Additionally, role ambiguity can make it difficult for executives and HR who have to work and report on a wide range of information connected with roles and employment.

Role clarity is a much more complex issue than most people realise. In fact, most of the problems that organisations run into will eventually lead back to issues connected  how roles are defined, documented and as a result, subsequently performed and managed.

This module explains what information needs to be known for true role clarity and what is required to maintain the equitable balance between employee rights and responsibilities and the organisation's.

And, although this module is not about position descriptions (PDs) as such, we will explain how much damage can be caused by poorly constructed position descriptions and show you how to document the necessary information required for role clarity in an operational PD for daily use - without getting rid of any existing PDs.

Note: The audio podcasts connected with this module are for those who supervise or manage the performance and behaviour of others.
